Our Story
Cedar Rose Haven Recovery Support Initiative was founded by Dr. Deanna Richard (Founder & Executive Director) and Darrell Richard (Co-Founder & Operations Manager), combining professional experience in healthcare, mental health, and direct care with personal insight into the impact of addiction and the recovery journey. Built on a foundation of dignity, structure, and trauma-informed support, Cedar Rose Haven was created to provide a structured recovery support program where individuals can rebuild their lives with clarity, purpose, and long-term recovery goals.
What began as a vision shaped by personal experiences and professional knowledge has grown into a structured recovery support initiative serving Northwest Houston through two gender-specific recovery support programs: the Dahlia Program for women and the Ashford Program for men. Cedar Rose Haven Recovery Support Initiative was designed to provide a comprehensive recovery support model that includes transportation coordination, nutrition and meal planning resources, and professional coordination with case managers and recovery coaches. The program also integrates accountability systems and consistent oversight from trained staff to support participant progress.
Cedar Rose Haven stands on the belief that recovery is possible when dignity, structure, and community come together. Every policy, service, and program practice is intentionally designed to support emotional safety, reduce relapse risk, and create a pathway toward stability and independence.

The Path to Cedar Rose Haven
Growing up in a home shaped by addiction, Dr. Richard witnessed instability, trauma, and the impact of substance use long before she understood its full effects. These experiences created a lifelong commitment to helping individuals affected by addiction find stability, healing, and hope. Together, Dr. Richard and Darrell Richard have spent more than a decade working in healthcare and direct care environments, supporting individuals through crisis, recovery challenges, and the process of rebuilding their lives.
Cedar Rose Haven Recovery Support Initiative was founded to help address the critical gap that exists between treatment and long-term recovery stability. It represents a mission built from lived experience, professional knowledge, and a commitment to creating structured pathways for individuals seeking lasting change. The founders’ experiences shaped a program model that combines compassion with structure, accountability with support, and dignity with long-term recovery planning.
